Amachi is a mentoring organization, originally founded to provide the consistent, loving presence of mentors to children of prisoners. Since it started in 2000, more than 350 programs have adopted its model and mission, serving more than 300,000 kids. In 2011, The Amachi Expansion for Military and Civilian Families (AEMCF) program was created to serve kids from military families. This report tells the story of that effort and shares lessons learned for doing this work effectively. M&P has designed all of Amachi’s publications, adapting the central “hands” graphic we implemented to mirror the subject, like this red, white and blue, stars and stripes treatment.
