The Eastern Apicultural Society of North America (EAS) is a nonprofit educational organization founded in 1955 to bee everything to apiculturalists. And, like most not-for-profits, it’s swarming with volunteers, including those who’ve designed and produced the organization’s Journal since the days of Eisenhower. While volunteers are always enthusiastic, they don’t often bring decades of design education and award-winning graphic design to the journal-design task. When our Penelope Malish—a passionate beekeeper—joined up, she was asked to take the Journal to new heights that would match the quality of EAS. Now it soars. It’s simply BEE-utiful, an impressive, polished magazine that’s economically printed in full color.
